SMS is one of the most effective ways to communicate small pieces of information; more people in South-Africa have cell phones than postal addresses. It is also nearly instantaneous and has the ability to inform you if the message was actually delivered or not. We have integrated the DataDigest SMS platform into the EduDigest Project; this allows members to cost-effectively send out personalised bulk to the whole school or just to a selected group (for example the under 15 Rugby team’s parents). To decrease costs and improve the school’s control over SMS costs, the school only needs to pay for the SMSs you actually use, in other words you need not pay for SMSs you don’t send out, and you need not pay per cell phone number you may or may not send SMSs to, which is the case with the fixed cost SMS providers.
